12.03.2012

Indian cricket legend Rahul Dravid, whose conference interview was a highlight of SportAccord Convention 2010 in Dubai, has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 39. A captain of India's national team known as 'The Wall' for his patient batting style, he ranks second in the history of the sport in Test runs scored, and also holds the Test fielding record for most catches in the outfield. "I have had a wonderful time," he said in Bangalore Friday. "Now it's time for a new generation of young players to take it forward and make history." He will continue to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Rajasthan Royals.
