QUéBEC UNVEILS CONVENTION PARTNERSHIPS

12.04.2012

The 2012 Québec City SportAccord organizing committee has announced two major agreements with local partners. Capitale-Nationale CRÉ will provide financial support for the event and Taxi Coop Québec will offer delegates a free taxi service. Capitale-Nationale CRÉ is injecting $100,000 into the 2012 Convention. This money will be used mainly to showcase Québec know-how through the food component, which will give conference delegates and participants a chance to discover and taste a wide range of local products. There will also be an opportunity to discover renowned Québec painters at a special Québec City Convention Centre corridor projection that recreates the feel of the famous Rue du Trésor.

Capitale-Nationale CRÉ Chair Yves Germain said: "Promoting local products among the many Convention delegates and participants is absolutely in line with our regional development objectives and our desire to support the agrifood sector. Hosting a major event like the SportAccord Convention opens up opportunities for other international sports events, which will of course also help make our region more vibrant and dynamic."

The partnership agreement with Taxi Coop Québec 5191 will make it possible to provide convention-goers with a first-of-its-kind service in Canada--free, on-demand taxi transportation. Upon presentation of their badge, SportAccord Convention delegates will be able to take advantage of taxi service for their daily activities and save valuable time when travelling around the city. This transportation service will perfectly complement the rush-hour shuttle service. Québec City taxis will be identified by stickers with the SportAccord Convention logo.

Taxi Coop Québec 5191 President Abdallah Homsy said: "For the first time, the taxi industry will not be an observer but part of the Québec City event. We look forward to providing SportAccord Convention delegates unmatched customer service on par with Québec City's reputation."

"We are very pleased with the participation of the Capitale-Nationale CRÉ and Taxi Coop Québec 5191. These two partnerships will help us, as convention organizer, showcase Québec know-how and show that it is possible to innovate to ensure that Québec City is an outstanding major events venue," said 2012 Québec City SportAccord Convention Co-Chair Serge Ferland.
