26.03.2013

LAUSANNE, Switzerland - SportAccord Convention is pleased to announce the continuation of its partnership with EventScotland.

The convention is an important occasion for EventScotland, offering unrivalled networking and development opportunities with the key decision makers in international sport business. Scotland has proven to be the perfect stage for events - regularly attracting some of the biggest championships and one-off events in sport, with many bids starting or gathering pace during SportAccord Convention.

Scotland is looking forward to hosting the Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup in 2014. This year Glasgow will host two Junior World Championships in netball and track cycling, as well as other major events in diving, athletics, gymnastics, golf and tennis.

"We are delighted that EventScotland has continued its partnership with SportAccord Convention for the 5th year in succession," said Nis Hatt, Managing Director, SportAccord Convention. " Scotland is developing a great sports events calendar and has exciting times ahead, and this is largely due to the great work by Paul and his team at EventScotland."

Paul Bush OBE, Chief Operating Officer for EventScotland said: "SportAccord Convention is an invaluable event for the international sports community and for EventScotland it provides an ideal platform for us to engage with key decision makers from around the world. Both SportAccord Convention and EventScotland celebrate 10 successful years of work in 2013 and it is fitting that we are once again a silver partner. The next two years will see some of the biggest events in world sport come to Scotland, but we are always looking forward and SportAccord Convention will help us to do that."

Scotland will welcome the world in 2014 and EventScotland are already working hard to ensure there is a lasting events legacy for the country in years to come. Scotland will host three World Championships and a European Championships in 2015 alongside the strong annual portfolio of events, with a number of other bids already underway.
