INTERNATIONAL FEDERATIONS’ FORUM FOCUSSED ON SPORT GOVERNANCE KICKS OFF TOMORROW

10.11.2015

LAUSANNE, Switzerland – The ninth edition of the IF Forum hosted by SportAccord Convention opens tomorrow in Lausanne. With a record number of International Sport Federations in attendance, they will be treated to a full conference programme focused on ‘Governance in Sport’, and developed in close collaboration with the International Olympic Committee and SportAccord Convention Stakeholders.

Taking place from 11-13 November 2015 at the Hotel Royal Savoy, Lausanne, delegates will be welcomed by Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, with ASOIF and SportAccord Convention President, Francesco Ricci Bitti delivering the Opening Address.

In anticipation of the Forum, Francesco Ricci Bitti said: "The IF Forum has always provided an ideal opportunity for Olympic and non-Olympic International Sport Federations to meet and share ideas for the betterment of sport. We have helped to prepare this year’s programme which reflects what is high up on the IFs’ agendas. I believe everybody understands that good governance, integrity and sustainability need to be deep-seated in a Federation’s philosophy and operations, and the Forum will offer tools and practical solutions on how to make that happen.”

The IF Forum Conference Programme features a keynote address by Simon Greenberg, Global Head of Rights, News Corp. Plenary sessions will cover: Implementing Good Governance; Accountability through Transparency; Democratic Decision-Making; Preventing Competition Manipulation; Olympic Agenda 2020 Sustainability and Legacy Introduction; with Opening Remarks presented by Francesco Ricci Bitti.

The programme also comprises: conclusions from recent research conducted by ASOIF; presentations and round table discussions focused on ‘An exchange of IF Practice’ with representatives from ASOIF, AIOWF, ARISF and AIMS; case studies, a panel discussion and breakout session, as well as presentations from IF Forum Official Partners, JLT Sport, Penceo and Repucom. As in previous years, the Master of Ceremony will be David Eades, Anchor and Journalist, BBC World.

Hosted by SportAccord Convention, the Hotel Royal Savoy will provide plenty of opportunity for IF Forum delegates to catch up with colleagues during luncheons and evening receptions.
