INTERNATIONAL FEDERATIONS SHARE KNOWLEDGE AT IF FORUM

13.11.2013

LAUSANNE, Switzerland - Representatives from International Federations gathered to learn from leading experts, and each other, during the seventh annual IF Forum last week in Lausanne. More than 250 delegates attended the sessions designed to deliver the latest insights on social media and event management, the two chosen themes of this year's event.

"The seventh annual IF Forum was an outstanding success," said SportAccord President Marius Vizer. "This yearly gathering of the International Federations provides a special occasion for them to learn from each another. The delegates from our member organisations once again showed a strong spirit of cooperation in sharing insights on the two important themes of social media and event management, in a friendly atmosphere of genuine solidarity."

The SportAccord President added: "We would like to express our gratitude for the participation and opening speeches of the IOC President, Thomas Bach, as well as Town Councilman Marc Vuilleumier, representing the city of Lausanne. This also marked an important moment in Olympic history - signing the partnership agreement between ANOC and SportAccord. The event was closed with President Seikh Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah's speech on the topic, also addressed in President Marius Vizer's opening speech. The President of SportAccord had congratulated the new President of the IOC, wishing him good luck in the new position and expressing his wish that the new president reforms and modernizes the Olympic movement."

Created in 2003 by SportAccord, the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations and the Association of the International Olympic Winter Sports Federations, the IF Forum is an event designed expressly and exclusively for the International Federations, whose representatives share knowledge in a series of conference discussion and workshops. The event is organised by SportAccord Convention on behalf of the stakeholder organisations.

The next major gathering bringing delegates of all the international federations together will be the 12th annual SportAccord Convention taking place from April 6-11, 2014, in Belek/Antalya, Turkey.
