LAUSANNE, Switzerland - SportAccord Convention today announced that the City Forum 2013 will examine city objectives in hosting sporting events and explore ways of measuring the performance of events as main themes of the popular city-targeted sessions during the Convention in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, from May 26-31, 2013.

Now in its sixth edition, the City Forum, dedicated to giving cities and the sports and companies they work with an opportunity to share viewpoints and best practice, will take place at the Lenexpo Exhibition Complex on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. 

A keynote presentation entitled 'What's Your Position?' by Dr Beatriz Garcia of the University of Liverpool will open the City Forum with a look at the main challenges cities are currently facing in the context of hosting events.

A session on 'The Right Fit - Matching Events With City Priorities' will feature Peter Bayer, Managing Director, of OSM - Opensportsmanagement, as moderator with Laurine Platzky, Deputy Director General, Western Cape Government from South Africa; Andrew Craig, The Craig Company, and Daphne Chan, Head of Research, Sportcal.

A second panel discussion will be on 'Using Social Media To Maximise Benefit' with participants including Jens Holm, CEO of the International Masters Games, and Brian Foley, Director, Sales and Business Development for Sports Worldwide, Mass Relevance. Steering the discussion will be BBC World journalist and anchor David Eades.

Anders Selling, Managing Director of Sweden's Vasaloppet, will present a close-up of the oldest and biggest cross-country ski race in the world.

The Forum will also feature 'A Quick Guide to Multi-Sport Events' by Vincent Gaillard, Director General of SportAccord, the umbrella organisation of the International Federations, which has launched a series of multi-sport events, including the SportAccord World Combat Games, whose second edition will be held in Saint Petersburg from October 18-26, 2013.
