The International Cycling Union (UCI) has made an agreement with Infront Sports & Media for broadcast coverage of the UCI Road, Track, Mountain Bike and BMX World Championships for the years 2013 to 2016. The deal also includes the UCI Track Cycling World Cup. Infront will become the UCI's exclusive agency to distribute the federation's media rights globally, with the exception of the USA and Japan. "Infront Sports & Media has a large network worldwide which is totally in line with the UCI's goal to universalise cycling," said UCI President Pat McQuaid. "Cycling is going through a boom as seen at the recent London Olympics"

Nike and Adidas are the top sports brands in digital marketing activities, according to an appraisal by think tank L2. The New York-based firm assessed 42 brands on the quality of their websites, marketing, social media presence etc. Nike and adidas finished first and second, followed by North Face and Puma. "The biggest brands are now in an arms race to establish greater custody of their consumers via mobile and social media platforms, bypassing the retailer and traditional media properties to establish direct relationships," the study said.
