Melbourne, the reigning Ultimate Sports City (which won in 2006, 2008 and 2010), will again be challenged by Sydney, as well as last time's runner-up Singapore, London, Berlin, Vancouver, Manchester, Dubai and Paris. Istanbul, Rio, New York, Glasgow, Doha, Madrid, Moscow and Budapest all return to the shortlist too, with Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur also in the running, having last appeared in 2008 and 2006 respectively.
