LAUSANNE, Switzerland - SportAccord Convention today announced that the 2012 City Forum will explore how sporting events can help drive economic and social development within a city while promoting tourism and a healthy lifestyle. The theme of 'Taking It to the Streets - City Activation' will share the agenda with a session entitled 'Who Pays for What?' on the financing of events in the City Forum during the 10TH anniversary SportAccord Convention in Québec City. 

Rotterdam Topsport CEO Hans den Oudendammer, University of Colorado Denver Chancellor Don Elliman and Gerrit Middag, Commercial & Events Director of the International Cycling Union, will be among the speakers at the City Forum taking place at the Québec City Convention Centre on May 22.

The City Forum will feature a session on the FIFA Women's World Cup featuring representatives from the 2011 event in Germany (Ulrich Wolter, Managing Director, DFB Consulting & Sales Services) and the next edition coming up in Canada (Don Hardman, Vice President Venues, FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 National Organizing Committee, The Canadian Soccer Association).

Other experts taking part in the Forum will include Ron Bidulka, Managing Director, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and Jennah Wootten, Major Events Manager of Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development Ltd. The City Forum will be moderated by BBC World TV presenter David Eades and Don Schumacher, President of Don Schumacher & Associates, Inc. and Executive Director of the National Association of Sports Commissions.
