Friday, April 4, 2014

SportAccord Convention announced today that the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has signed up as a Bronze Partner for their 2014 edition taking place 6-11 April at the Susesi Convention Centre in Belek/Antalya, Turkey.

As part of the collaboration the IAAF will be holding a panel Q&A called “The Power of Sport” chaired by five time Olympian Charmaine Crooks and featuring: IAAF President, Lamine Diack; Heptathlon legend, Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Italy’s World Junior Champion high-jumper, Alessia Trost. President Diack will use the panel to discuss innovative projects that the IAAF is planning for 2014 and beyond.

“As the number one Olympic sport, it’s important that we play a full role in the global sports movement so we're thrilled to be a Bronze Partner for this year’s SportAccord Convention,” said Nick Davies, Deputy Secretary General at the IAAF.

“This is an exciting time for athletics and we look forward to showcasing our new exciting initiatives to the leading figures in the world of sport.”

As part of its Bronze Partner status, the IAAF will also be sponsoring the morning runs, to show that the federation is not only about elite performance sport but has a huge role to play in encouraging health and fitness participation amongst the wider public.

“We really appreciate the extra mile that the IAAF is taking by bringing in star athletes to lead our morning runs,” said Nis Hatt, Managing Director of SportAccord Convention.

“For the IAAF to take time out of their busy schedule to inspire our delegates is a real treat, and adds great value to the Convention.”

Just a few weeks after SportAccord Convention, the IAAF will be hosting a brand new event, with the World Relays due to take place in the Bahamas on 24-25 May 2014. The IAAF will also be holding five events in 2014 as part of the World Athletics Series and as a true representation of the global nature of athletics, these will be staged on four different continents.

FIBA to Shine a Light on Women's Basketball at SportAccord Convention 2014

Date:
Thursday, April 3, 2014

FIBA will be among the countless sports stakeholders taking part in SportAccord Convention 2014, the world's premier event at the service of sport.

This year's event will be held in Belek/Antalya, Turkey from Sunday 6 to Friday 11 April.

SportAccord Convention is dedicated to engaging rights holders, organising committees, cities, businesses and other organisations in the development of sport.

FIBA has been a faithful member of SportAccord Convention since its inception in 2003 and last year signed a two-year agreement as Bronze Partner of the event.

“Having been a partner of the Convention for 11 years, FIBA has been incredibly committed to the event, and its values,” said Nis Hatt, Managing Director, SportAccord Convention.

Each year it uses the Convention to highlight its latest, exciting initiatives, and I cannot wait to drop by their booth to see their promotion of Women’s Basketball.”

FIBA will have an exhibition stand where it can promote its numerous activities. Fittingly, with the FIBA World Championship for Women to be played in the Turkish cities of Istanbul and Ankara later in the year (27 September - 5 October), the world governing body for basketball will use its booth to promote women's basketball.

FIBA Secretary General and IOC Member Patrick Baumann said: "SportAccord Convention is one of the most important dates on FIBA's calendar and on the sports calendar in general.

"It is the perfect platform to bring sports' stakeholders together.

"After highlighting our 3x3 discipline at the Convention in 2012 and 2013 and getting excellent feedback, we are now looking forward to promoting women's basketball."

Aggreko Puts Media at the Heart of the Action at SportAccord Convention

Thursday, April 3, 2014

Aggreko, the world leader in the provision of temporary power generation and temperature control solutions, will be participating as a Silver Partner at SportAccord Convention 2014, taking place 6-11 April at the Susesi Convention Centre in Belek/Antalya, Turkey.

The setup will be in a prime location, ensuring it is in close proximity to the action and facilitates real-time development of news stories.

For more than 50 years Aggreko’s involvement in the sports industry has gone far beyond the simple provision of rental services. They have a solid understanding of the sports world’s often complex structures and have worked with nine Olympic Games, five FIFA World Cups (including FIFA World Cup 2014) and numerous Formula One races.

“Aggreko’s continued support of the Convention highlights their commitment to the sports industry,” said Nis Hatt, Managing Director of SportAccord Convention.

“Industry platforms such as the SportAccord Convention are essential in helping to bring together key players with proven industry capabilities, ensuring the continued success of any sport event, said David de Behr, Head of Major Events at Aggreko EMEA.

“It takes a considerable amount of experience and expertise to successfully execute projects in the world of sport. Their high visibility and transient nature means that providers need to be 10 steps ahead when planning, installing and running critical services.”

“Reliable temporary power and temperature control solutions are essential for the success of any sport event, especially when you consider the endless auxiliary services that rely on constant power – broadcasting, hospitality, security, cleaning and waste and logistics to name but a few. We are proud to be part of this year’s SportAccord Convention for the sixth time, and look forward to continued service delivery success to the sport industry.”
