Patrick VAJDA, 56 years old, doctor in law and political science, joined Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker in November, 2000, after 25 years spent in insurance and risk management.
European Manager for Sports and Events and worldwide Events Practice Leader for the Marsh risk management network for major sporting events.
Member of the Refereeing Commission of the International Fencing Federation, international fencing referee, Patrick refereed the Olympic finals at Montreal in 1976, Moscow in 1980 and Los Angeles in 1984.
He was Technical Delegate at the International Fencing Federation during the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988.
Patrick VAJDA was closely involved in the organization of the risk management team for the Games at Albertville 92, Barcelona 92, Lillehammer 94, Atlanta 96, Nagano 98, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010.
With his experience of 13 Summer and Winter Olympic Games, 9 of which providing insurance and risk management, Patrick VAJDA is the only insurance professional to have worked with 9 Organizing Committees and to have such a wide operational experience of the Olympic Games. He was also risk manager to the World Football Cup in 1998 in France.
He is in a way both the artifact and the principle actor in the development of Olympic Risk Management.
