CRAIG MCLATCHEY
CEO
Event Knowledge Services (EKS)

Craig McLatchey is the Chief Executive Officer of Event Knowledge Services (EKS).  EKS is a Switzerland-based organisation providing knowledge management, consulting services and support systems for major events across the globe.  EKS was created in 2004 as a “spin-off” from the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) exclusive Olympic Games knowledge services company Olympic Games Knowledge Services (OGKS). Craig was the inaugural Chief Executive of OGKS between 2001 to June 2005 when OGKS was restructured now being absorbed into the IOC. Craig led the strategic direction and business development for both OGKS and EKS during the restructuring and retains a close association with the IOC and Olympic Movement generally.

Through his involvement in a range of joint ventures/alliances as well as with EKS, Craig has played the lead international strategy role in the development of Event Strategies for Scotland, The North West region and England and the Yorkshire and Humber region of England.

For the previous decade, Craig held the position of Director of Sport (1991-1995) then Secretary-General (CEO) of the Australian Olympic Committee (1995-2001), and was a Board Member of the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (1995-2001); he sat on Board Committees including:

o Sports Commission
o Marketing Commission
o Torch Relay Committee
o Audit Committee
o Finance Committee
o Villages Advisory Committee
o Cultural Commission.

Craig was a key member of the executive team working closely with SOCOG senior executives on a day-to-day basis assisting the development of Games planning.

In 1992, in conjunction with AOC President John Coates, Craig developed Australia’s strategy for Olympic sport development in preparation for the 2000 Olympic Games.  Known as the Sydney 2000 Gold Medal Plan this resulted in Australia achieving a history making 58 medals in 2000 placing fourth in the world medal tally behind the superpowers of Russia, USA and China.

Prior to joining the Australian Olympic Committee, Craig was Executive Director of Australian Swimming (1986-1991), where he steered Australian Swimming to commercial and sports performance recovery after Australia's worst ever performance at a World swimming championships in 1986.  Australian Swimming is now Australia's premier Olympic sport.

For his services to the 2000 Olympic Games Craig was awarded the Gold Olympic Rings by the IOC President and in 2002 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Australia Day Honours List 2002 for his services to the Olympic Games and sport.

In addition to his Harvard Business School management studies (Executive Programme) Craig holds a Bachelors of Applied Science degree from Canberra University.
