Aggreko, a long-time Partner of SportAccord Convention, have reached major agreements to supply two global mega-events that have been represented at the Convention over the years - the Commonwealth Games and the FIFA World Cup.

Aggreko, a Silver Partner of SportAccord Convention for six consecutive years through 2013, will be Official Supporter of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, providing temporary power across the mega-event's 13 sports venues and athletes' village. Aggreko, based near Glasgow, will deploy over 100 individual generator sets connected through about 200 kilometres of cabling to meet all temporary power requirements.

Glasgow 2014 Chief Executive, David Grevemberg, said: "Aggreko has a great track record of supporting mega-events worldwide and who better to join the Glasgow 2014 sponsor family as our Official Temporary Power Supporter than such a highly-regarded global power company with its headquarters in the Glasgow area."

FIFA has named Aggreko as a branded licensee for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil as the supplier of power solutions to the tournament's international broadcast centre and stadiums in the 12 host cities. The deal ensures the successful delivery of television images from matches.

Niclas Ericson, FIFA's TV Director, said: "The deal is of huge importance as it not only ensures the successful delivery of the TV images but will also result in a significant reduction in operational investments for all 12 host cities."
