Already famous for its many golf courses and white-sand beaches, the Mediterranean resort area of Belek/Antalya is rapidly making a name for itself as an outstanding host for world sport. Hardly surprising, therefore, that SportAccord Convention has chosen it as the location for its 2014 edition.

"We are very much looking forward to SportAccord Convention 2014 in Belek/Antalya," said Nis Hatt, Managing Director, SportAccord Convention. "They are building an incredibly strong, varied and interesting profile in sport and we are excited to be a part of that. Attendees of this year's event will no doubt be blown away by the beauty of the location and all that it has to offer."

Belek's latest state-of-the-art facility to be offered is the Gloria Sports Arena. The sports complex, due for completion in March 2015, will offer facilities for a wide range of Olympic and non-Olympics sports. These include: athletics; swimming; gymnastics; boxing; fencing; judo; wrestling; handball; basketball; volleyball; table tennis; badminton; dance and weightlifting.

Belek recently cemented its position as a premier global sporting location by hosting the World Archery Championships and the 50th World Archery Congress that took place September-October 2013. The events attracted over 400 competitors from 69 nations and the competition's finals were broadcast on Eurosport, a Silver Partner of SportAccord Convention 2014.

Shortly after SportAccord Convention, from the 8-14 May, Belek will welcome the Turkish Airlines Ladies Golf Open, a key feature of the Ladies European Tour since 2010.

Serenas Group, the local organising committee behind SportAccord Convention 2014, has been working on projects with the Turkish Olympic Committee for the past three years. "As well as its rich history, Belek offers numerous high quality hotels with experienced staff, 50,000 beds and 2500 meeting halls of various sizes" says Mustafa Fethi Gürbüz, CEO, Serenas Group. "It also has 52 football fields, a major archery training and contest area, 15 golf courses and 60 tennis courts. With an Olympic complex on the way, it is an outstanding venue for any sporting event."

To enable SportAccord Convention delegates to experience 'the motherland of Mediterranean Ancient History', a number of exciting social and cultural activities are planned. These include a golf tournament at a Nick Faldo designed course in Belek and bespoke tours around the Old City, Aspendos, Perge and other cultural and natural highlights.
